The Holiday season is just around the
corner and brace yourselves, as feasts are coming! As much as we love to have
the eggnogs, the pies, the lavish spreads, putting on weight is also one of the
concerns that constantly bothers us. That said, let us look at some quick tips
that will help you maintain your weight during the holidays without feeling
guilty!!!
- Have a Quick Meal Before the Dinner or Party – The main issue with eating a lot of Holiday food is that the
food is yummy and you can’t stop at eating just a few bites. To prevent
this binging later on, make it a point to have a quick meal, maybe a salad
or something filling that can keep you satiated instead of making you eat
     more than you intend to.
 - Choose Proteins – Proteins
are important for maintaining a healthy weight. This is because high-protein
diets can lead you to being more satiated and curb the unnecessary
cravings. For instance, you can keep some roasted turkey, chicken or fish,
quinoa, cottage cheese and eggs handy for serving along side the usual
     Christmas spread at home.
 - Keep Healthy Alternatives with You – To avoid binge eating at a friend’s or relative’s place, you
need to keep healthy alternatives with you. For instance, you can take a casserole,
a healthy side dish or even baked, low-calorie food with you. This will
help you cut down the unhealthy food and eat without putting on excess
     weight.
 - Take Small Portions –
A rule of the thumb to keep your weight under control is to take small portions
and eat slowly. Savor the taste of the food instead of taking mouthfuls
and not really enjoying what you are eating. This will also help your body
to register fullness. Using smaller sized plates can also come to your
rescue as the brain tends to think that the vacant space on the place means
the food you are having is less.
 - Do Away with Added Sugar – Added sugar is anyway bad for you. But how can you resist all
the yummy deserts and Christmas treats? What you can do instead is stay away
from sugary treats by taking small tastes instead of heaping them on the
plate. As we said earlier, take the smaller portions and try and savor
     them to the fullest.
