The Holiday season is here and so is the
busy-ness. In the hustle bustle of prepping up for guests, gifts and family
traditions, it is your skin care that often takes a backseat. While there are
many options for skin care in Kuwait and
elsewhere, there are certain things that you need to keep in mind when it comes
to taking care of your nails.
- Keep your hands clean – The rule of the thumb is to keep your nails and the skin
around the nails as clean as possible. Choose a gentle handwash that helps
you clean the hands without being too harsh on the skin. Do this frequently,
whether you are handling food, cleaning the house or any other chore for
that matter. This will set the foundation for great nails.
- Be gentle – The next
tip is to be gentle on your nails as scrubbing them way too roughly can expose
your nails to infection. While there are a number of tools that are available
for nail care, you need to take your pick and select the ones that do not expose
you to infection. Moreover, when you use metal nail tools under the nails,
it can cause the nail plate to separate from the skin and it will not look
good.
- Trim them properly and regularly – Trimming the nails regularly are quite important. Make it a
point to clip them at least once in two weeks. This frequency can go up or
down, depending on how fast your nails grow.
- No cutting the cuticles – Cuticle is important to seal the base of the nails. When you
remove it by cutting it down, it will lead to the breaking of the protection
barrier. This, in turn, will lead to the area susceptible to bacteria and
hence, increase your chances of infecting the nails. If you still don’t
want it to get in the way of your nails, make it a point to gently push
the cuticles back using a wooden orange stick right after you get out of
the shower. Don’t forget to use cuticle cream to keep them in the best
health.
- Base coat is important – When you are in a hurry to get ready for the big Christmas party
or any dinner party for that matter, you do your nails in a hurry and
completely forget about the base coat. However, it is essential that you
do apply the base coat first and then apply a coat of your favorite paint.
These are some of the things that you need
to keep in mind when it comes to taking care of your nails in the Holidays. For
