All You Need to Know About Complete Health Check Up

I was just up to my breakfast when a phone call informed me that one of my close relatives has passed away due to a sudden heart attack. I was shattered because it was an untimely death. He was narrowly 35 years old and was surviving a happy life with no major health worries.

We often come across such cases, but, do we take any action to safeguard ourselves against such sudden fatal attacks? Perhaps, many of us aren't aware of what we can do to prevent these incidents. A simple solution is- complete health check-up. It can reveal impending disasters which may turn up in the form of ailments and diseases shortly. Our minds function on common mentality and many of us see doctors only when we experience health issues or when doctor schedules a series of appointments. We do not necessarily just book an appointment by ourselves and drive off to see a doctor just for a general check-up. A lot of health issues can be discovered by this action in early stages before the seed of a disease can form.

What Happens during a Medical Health Check-up?

A medical check-up is a comprehensive screening program of a candidate's body. A series of physical examinations are done through a variety of diagnostic tests like X-ray, CT scan, blood test, MRI, ultrasound, colonoscopy, and endoscopy. This list seems quite long, but, one may not be undergoing through all these tests necessarily and only the required ones. The results produced by these tests will determine whether or not you need any treatment or preventive actions.

What To Do Before a Medical Health Check Up?

  • Before health check-up take at least 6 hours of sleep. Sometimes actual results get affected due to inadequate sleep.
  • Do not eat or drink anything eight hours before check-up. However, drinking water is an exception, and you can drink water as required unless specifically instructed.
  • Avoid taking alcohol for at least 24 hours before the health checks up. It is one of the critical beverages which can vary the results of your actual health condition.
  • Females should keep a gap of seven days before or after their menstrual cycles because blood traces can affect the results of the urine test.
  • Pregnant women are advised to refrain themselves from X-ray test.
